 Academic Tests

Illinois Student Achievement Test (ISAT) - All students must take the ISAT in grades 3-8. They are tested each year for their proficiency in math and reading. In grades 4 and 7 they are also tested for their achievements in science. The results are compared to the Illinois Learning Standards.

Illinois Barber Licensing and Testing - Barbers in Illinois can only receive a license upon passing a written exam. It is multiple choice and candidates have 90 minutes to finish the exam. There are questions on scientific concepts, facial and shaving services, hair care services and chemical services. The exam has a total of 50 questions.

Illinois Locksmith Exams and Licensing - Locksmiths must pass a written examination in order to be licensed in the state of Illinois. The exam is administered in September and March of each year. It has a total of 305 questions. Some questions are true/false and others are multiple-choice.

Illinois Nail Tech Licensing and Testing- Illinois also requires nail technicians to take an examination before getting a license. The exam is administered via computer. It has 65 questions, half of which are on health and safety issues and basic nail care. The remaining questions cover nail technology services. All questions are multiple-choice.

Illinois Real Estate Agent Exams and Licensing - Real estate agents must pass the Illinois Real Estate Licensing Examination after completing their required coursework. It is administered at testing centers around the state and appointments can be made a day in advance. The test has 140 multiple choice questions that cover several content areas, including state laws.

Illinois Cosmetology Exams and Licensing - Illinois requires cosmetologists to pass the Illinois Cosmetology Test. It is a computerized exam and candidates have two hours to answer the multiple-choice questions. The test covers salon safety and sanitation, hair cutting and styling, hair waving and relaxing, hair coloring and lightening, and nail and skin services.

Driver's Tests

Illinois Driving Tests - Illinois requires all applicants, including new residents, to pass a vision screening and a multiple-choice written exam before being granted a license. New applicants must have a learner's permit before applying and must also pass a driving skills test. This last exam is normally waived for new residents.
