Academic Tests Pennsylvania System of School Assessment (PSSA) - Pennsylvania students are required to take the PSSA tests. They are tested in reading and mathematics in third through eighth grade and again in 11th grade. Students are also tested in writing in grades 5, 8 and 11, and in science in grades 4, 8, and 11. The practical assesses a student's skill at shaving, cutting hair and other tasks essential to the profession. Pennsylvania Funeral Directors Exams and Licensure - Pennsylvania requires funeral directors to pass the Funeral Directors Licensure and Endorsement Examination. The two-part test covers laws, policies and procedures. It is taken on a computer. The second part is a practical. It must be scheduled at least 30 days in advance. The fee for both exams is $190. Pennsylvania Driving Tests - The state of Pennsylvania requires all new drivers to take a road skills test in order to qualify for their driver's license.
