8 Test Prep Tips
How you prepare for a test can be the difference between a low score and a high score. How do you prepare?:
- Study well in advance, don't cram
- Study to learn and understand
- Follow a regular study schedule
- Use a quality study materials: text books, flashcards, practice study guides, practice tests, etc.
- Highlight key points in your notes and for open book tests, tab and highlight your code or book
- Utilize discussion groups
- Visualize test success
- Get a good rest the night before. Even though you may feel a bit anxious the day before the test, it is important that you give your brain a rest. During the test, you must be clear of mind and able to nimbly move from question to question. Do not study late into the night. You know the material more than you realize.

- Get to the test location early
- Read & understand each question
- Form an answer in your mind
- Read all the answers
- Eliminate obviously wrong answers
- Don't get stuck on hard questions
- Pace yourself
- Maintain a positive attitude... It is important to keep your composure during the test. Having a good attitude will allow you to get through the challenging parts of an exam and avoid bogging down.
