The New York State Teacher Certification Examination is given to prospective teachers in New York and covers education law and the Commissioner's regulations pertaining to education. The test helps identify which candidates have the requisite knowledge and skill to merit certification. For teachers, there are three different types of tests, including the Liberal Arts and Sciences Test, the Elementary Assessment of Teaching Skills and the Secondary Assessment of Teaching Skills, with many different content specialty tests (CST).
